'Freestyle' is a romantic drama about two very different teenagers - a studious girl and a street-wise lad - who bond over their love of freestyle basketball. The film was passed '12A' for one scene of moderate sexual threat and moderate violence.

The moderate sexual threat occurs during a scene set at a party in which a boy thinks a very drunken girl has consented to have sex with him. We see him go and find a condom in the bathroom, making some lewd comments as he films himself on his camera phone. When the girl unexpectedly resists, they struggle and she fights him off and flees. This is a key episode in the film's story, and offers young viewers important messages about the dangers of alcohol and irresponsible behaviour. The moderate violence occurs in the following scene when the hero delivers a couple of strong punches to the boy who has tried to assault his girlfriend. There is no blood seen and the beating is not prolonged although the blows sound realistic.

The film also contains some mild language (including 'hell', 'crap', 'arse') and occasional mild sex references and innuendo during chat between teenagers (for example references to smoothie fruit drink called a 'sexy').
