Extended Classification Information
'The Blind Side' is a true-life drama about American football player Michael Oher.  The film contains moderate violence, language and sex references.

There is just one scene of moderate violence, in a scene where Michael goes back to his run-down neighbourhood and is drawn into an altercation with a man who makes disparaging remarks about his adoptive family.  The man draws a gun from his waistband and says 'I'm gonna pop a cap in your ass.'  Michael shoves him hard and there are several impressionistic blows.  In the melee, a woman with a baby is knocked over and the gun is discharged into the air.

The sex references occur in the same scene as the violence and are what provoke Michael into shoving the man.  The man says, of Michael's adoptive sister, 'You tapped that?... Your fine white sister... I likes me some of that mummy-daughter action.'  Other sex references include a reference to Michael having been taken to a 'titty bar' and a threat by his adoptive mother that she will 'Cut off your penis' if he gets a girl pregnant at college.

The moderate language occurs when a man shouts aggressively 'You hear me bitch?' at Michael's adoptive mother, who turns and uses the word back at him.

The film also contains some drug references, with Michael's mother referred to as being 'on that crack pipe' and having 'a drug problem.'  Drug use is clearly portrayed as a negative thing.

No-one younger than 12 may see a '12A' film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult.  No-one younger than 12 may rent or buy a '12' rated video or DVD.  Responsibility for allowing under-12s to view lies with the accompanying or supervising adult.
