Extended Classification Information
'Micmacs' is a comedy-drama about a man's search for the men responsible for supplying the weaponry which killed his soldier father.  The film contains moderate violence and sex and references to hard drugs.

The violence occurs early in the film, in a scene showing how the principal character was accidentally shot.  A bullet strikes him in the head and, although there is no detail of the injury seen at the point of impact, the camera zooms into a close-up of the wound as it oozes with blood and then follows the bullet inside his head in an animated sequence in order to show where it has lodged in his brain.  The bloody images here are relatively brief and, given the nature of the wound, very restrained.  There is also a strong contextual justification given that the wound, and especially the bullet itself, acts as the catalyst for all of the action that follows.

The moderate sex in the film almost all forms part of the grand plan of deception that lies at the heart of the film's narrative.  There is a brief shot of a scantily clad couple in a sex booth and another sequence with the same couple pretending to have sex in front of an open window. However, this is all designed to distract a security guard at a key moment in the film.

Finally, the film also contains references to, and sight of hard drugs.  The main character is seen stealing some heroin but he does not use or sell the drug; rather, he plants it on one of the bad guys in order to get him arrested and removed from an awkward location.

No-one younger than 12 may see a '12A' film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult.  No-one younger than 12 may rent or buy a '12' rated video or DVD.  Responsibility for allowing under-12s to view lies with the accompanying or supervising adult.
